David McGranaghan, resident of Woodford in Redbridge, has invented and released a board game using all of the experience he has gained whilst working as a professional actor, with funding and business support from the East London Small Business Centre.

The tagline for ‘Game For Fame’ is “Race from rags to riches and end up in stitches”; players fight for fame and fortune against their friends and family, racing from 'on the dole' unemployment to Multimillionaire Superstar Status.

The inspiration for the project came in 2007 when David and fellow actor friend Joseph Pitcher were working together at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds. Because the show they were appearing in only played at nights, they found themselves with lots of spare time, which they filled playing board games.

David said: “Without the East London Small Business Centre, there is no way that my business would be where it is today. They have provided me with great advice, training and expertise that I continue have with me and my business everyday.

After playing for a while they realized there was a gap in the market for a board game with a strong theme that would really make people laugh, and provide a fun night in. They decided to fill it by creating their own. After an overwhelmingly positive reaction to test-plays of the game, they won the Shell Young Entrepreneur Award in 2009 and further funding from the East London Small Business Centre.
